The article is ready. The author details are still scattered.
The portrait is in a folder. The current title lives in a staff document. A biography gets copied from an older story, while a LinkedIn profile arrives in a message just before publication.
Then something changes. The author takes on a new role, updates their headshot or adds an ORCID profile. The newest story gets the correction, but older versions of the author remain spread across the publication.
A detail that belongs to the person has become content to maintain page by page.

in↗iD Updated onceGive readers the context a byline cannot carry
A name can tell readers who wrote the story. It cannot always explain why that perspective matters, where the writer’s expertise comes from or how to find more of their work.
Author Blocks connects a workspace profile to reusable designs created for the publication in Design Studio. Add the treatments your publication needs, then shape the portrait, typography, biography, links and call to action so each one belongs to the editorial system.
The profile stays with the workspace while its Author Block designs belong to the publication. Editors choose the person and the appropriate treatment. The author gains a consistent presence without every story becoming another profile to maintain.
One feature, three very different editorial jobs
Put expertise in view
Pair a formal biography with the credentials and ORCID link readers expect from scholarly publishing.
Add professional context
Show a contributor’s role and background so members immediately understand the perspective behind the article.
Make writers recognizable
Give a strong portrait, a distinct biography and a simple way for readers to follow the person behind the story.
From a person in the workspace to a presence in the story
Four connected steps keep author information, publication design and editorial placement working together.
Keep the person in one place
Create the workspace profile with a portrait, name, role, image description, email, formatted biography and the links that matter—from a personal site and LinkedIn to ORCID.
The profile becomes the source used by Author Blocks; the details no longer need to be rewritten as article copy.

Update your card details

Add the designs your publication needs
In Design Studio, add an Author Block design to the publication. Start with a horizontal, vertical, card or three-column layout, then shape the portrait, type, spacing, call to action and the way social links appear.
Create distinct reusable treatments for different editorial contexts—not one fixed, one-size-fits-all author card.

Choose the person in context
In the article editor, open the component menu, choose Author and select a person from the workspace. Their real profile appears in the story, ready to use with the publication default or another Author Block design.
A short update can stay compact. A feature can give its writer more room without recreating the profile.
The living shoreline
How one city is making room for water—and the habitats that follow it home.

Amara KingLet the design fit the space
Publish as usual. The Author Block adapts to the space around it, so a wide treatment can stack cleanly in a narrow column and remain legible on smaller screens.
The author keeps a considered presence beneath a feature, inside a sidebar and across devices.

The story keeps its own shape. The person behind it finally has a place that feels considered, too.
